Against Machac, Djokovic suffered at the start of the match to maintain his serve, in a game that lasted 11 minutes. More successful in the rest than in the serve, the Serbian scored the first break for 3-1 and then stretched the advantage with his own serve and escaped 4-1.

Even so, Djokovic closed the second set in half an hour (6-0), taking advantage of the Czech’s errors.

But again, the third set brought with it a change of script. Pushed into error on several occasions by a more explosive rival, number 1 disconnected againgave up his serve twice in a row and left the way clear to the final for the Czech after 2 hours and 6 minutes of play.
