The Puebla Group came out to question Javier Milei: “Let him take care of what corresponds to him institutionally”
He Puebla Groupthe label made up of former leaders and populist leaders of Latin America who embrace progressive thinking, came out to the crossroads of Javier Milei, who, at the presentation of his book last Thursday at Luna Park, assured that the institution is an “enemy” that tries to “overthrow” the Government.
“Recently, President Javier Milei has described us as ‘enemies’, ensuring that we seek to perpetuate misery, From the Puebla Group we ask you to take care of what corresponds to you institutionally and do not waste your precious time fighting and dirtying your ideological opponents,” the think tank of ex-presidents expressed in a statement in which they drink Alberto Fernandez.
Among those who make up the Puebla Group, in addition to the former Argentine president, are José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (former president of the government of Spain), Rafael Correa (former president of Ecuador) and Ernesto Samper (former president of Colombia).
When talking about the cultural battle, Milei had maintained that groups such as the San Pablo Forum and the Puebla Group They are “enemies” that “suddenly, they try to overthrow this government because “They want socialism and misery to continue.”
In addition to responding to these statements, the Puebla Group came out in defense of Pedro Sánchez after the controversy over the statements against his wife, investigated for an alleged conflict of interest that could be framed in corruption crimes, that escalated during the last week with more verbal torpedoing from both governments.

In that sense, the Puebla Group expressed its rejection of the libertarian’s statements made during the Vox conference. “Their unfounded hate speeches towards the wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and his reluctance to apologize to Spain, have led to the regrettable withdrawal of the ambassador Spanish in Argentina, a no small fact considering that said country is one of the two that invest the most in Argentina,” they noted.
The group of Latin American politicians later recalled that in six months of administration “Milei has been involved in conflicts diplomats with Andrés Manuel López Obrador in Mexico, Gustavo Petro in Colombia, Gabriel Boric in Chile and Lula da Silva in Brazil.”
He then tried a detailed analysis of claims on Argentina’s commercial relations and the countries with which the President has had differences and the consequences that these disagreements could have on the balance of trade.
“Taking into account that Brazil and Chile are two of the most important trading partners for Argentina, the constant disqualification towards global leaders and breaking diplomatic ties fundamental, could lead to serious problems for international trade and bilateral cooperationnegatively affecting the 47 million Argentines, in addition to isolating Argentina from the world,” they warned.
In that sense, they considered that Milei’s way of approaching international policy is “systematic rupture” and added the “rejection of recognition of the Palestinian State in the last UN assembly in which it voted aligned with the United States, Israel and only five other countries, going against what Argentina always voted for.”
And, in line with their own questions, they advanced on internal political issues of Milei’s management, from the perspective of Latin American populism.
“These events are framed in an Argentina where the utilization of the industry’s installed capacity is barely 50%, companies are laying off workers massively and the construction industry, without investment in public works, is practically paralyzed; with a drop in activity of 42% in just 3 months,” they added.
Meanwhile, they pointed out that the OECD projected a reduction in Argentine economic activity of at least 3.3% and, they added, “the most serious thing is that this projection could increase.”
